Starting to lose faith in Mankind.....

Celebrated my future MIL birthday last night, and on our way home in the car, we tuned into Class 95FM, and I almost couldn't believe my ears when I heard this story.

Someone wrote in and shared her angry and sad feelings about this Coasta Rican artist called Guillermo Habacuc Vargas who paid little kids to catch a stray dog, tied it up with a rope, displayed at an art gallery and starved it to death without giving it food or drink.

(P.S I do not wish to display the pics here as it makes my heart very very sad.)

All in the name of Art?!!!

My immediate reaction was WTF! Is this true?! Is this a joke or something??! OMG!

I searched for information on the internet and came to find out that there are many versions of it. Some saying its a hoax and that the dog did not actually died and that the Art gallery did feed it and release it the next day. But only God knows if its true.

I'm a 100% dog lover and am utterly disturbed, angry and upset when I came across this incident.

I'm really starting to lose faith in mankind. How sadistic or complex human being can really be. And the worse thing was, those who visited the art gallery, saw this and does nuthing to stop him???!
Arrghhh.......

Until now, I still could not believe this cruelty act of a so-called artist. I mean what are you trying to prove? Another article states that he was actually trying to put across the message that everyday there are many stray dogs dying on the streets but nobody cares, and when its on display in a art gallery, it provoke so much attention.

"BUllshit! Yes, Mr Guillermo XXXX whatever, you've indeed achieved your aim of getting all the attention and publicity that you've wanted. And yes, the truth hurts, but who do you think you are to act as God. I think you are a devil in disguise as your act and thoughts are pure evil, regardless of what message you are trying to put across.

What next? How about tying yourself up with a rope and starving yourself to death to put the message across that many people in Africa or third world country is dying of starvation?

What is your real ulterior motive?

Maybe, those stray dogs will ultimately die of hunger or diseases, which is sad too, but at least, they have freedom to go wherever they want to. Maybe they will meet a kind soul who will adopt it and feed it well. Who knows. I believe God has a plan for everyone of us. But who are you to deprive it of its freedom and to humiliate & torture it in such a way??!

I absolutely abhor & despise your act. And I believe this is not what a artist should do. You are just a twisted, evil-minded exhibitionist who is a danger to mankind. You are no different from other animal abusers, except that you did it in public and finding lotsa shit excuses to cover your own backside when the uproar begins. And ultimately what goes around comes around...."

Apparently, it was believed that he was going to represent the country at the "Biennale Centroamericana Honduras 2008".

If you shared the same sentiments as me, please go to this website to sign your petition to boycott him from repeating the act again!

http://www.petitiononline.com/ea6gk/petition.html

I choose to believe that this is not a hoax, as I does not wish to take any chances that this person will repeat the same thing again. By signing the petition, this is the very least that I could do.

I came to think of a recent quote from the movie that I've watched "Horton Hears a Who!"

"A person is a person, no matter how small!"

Now, will someone please make me rekindle the faith in mankind again...... please....

My Digi Cam is here!!!

I just got it last friday. "Big Grin"

Geez, I'm now feeling like a little gal who is excited about her new doll, and simply can't keep my hands off it, haha... I have not really read the user manual in details yet, am too lazy you see. Perhaps shall do it this coming weekend.

I initially was lemming over the Sony DS-T70/200 but after reading so many reviews about its mediocre pictures quality and that its more of a stylish digi-cam, rather than a performance one, I decided to shift my focus to Canon brand. Moroever, a Sony would definately cost me a bomb more than a Canon.

Overall, I am very satisfied with my new Canon IXUS 80 IS, in pink!

Yes, you heard it right, it is in PINK! Metallic light shade of pink!
But I must say the Brown, Caramel and Blue are all so delectable & yummy looking as well.

I'm also pretty surprised that the 2.5 inch LCD screen is not as small as I deem it will be, lolzz. Perhaps I'm so used to seeing Baobei's Lumix, which has a 3 inch LCD screen lor. And it does not seem as pixelised as my previous Casio Exilim. And there is even a view-finder, which is rare to see on a digi cam nowadays. But this can greatly help to reduce the battery life when its running out, as you can still use the view-finder to focus your pics.

And oh, it has this uuber cool feature, whereby you can find it on iphone, kekeke...

You take a pic in landscape position, and when you tilt your camera to portrait position, the picture preview automatically adjust itself to portrait for viewing... vice versa. But it doesn't work all the time, sometimes its kindof lag.

I even bought a hello kitty casing (to use as a camera case) during my lunch time today, coz there is no free casing thrown in when I bought it. Alas! A free 4GB SD card but no camera casing. Come to think of it, quite stupid hor... But never mind lah, consider I bought it cheaper than the retail price.
But the casing seems too big for the cam lor. I seriously suspect this is a cigarette case, wahaha.... a hello kitty cigarette case?!! Haiz, just use it temporary first till I can get a better one. But its really cutez, with matching pink colour, and a big silver ribbon. A pity about the size though. Hello kitty stuff ain't cheap. Cost me $9.50 loh.
Ok, enough of my description. Here are some pics I took with my mobile.

Seriously, the pics doesn't do it justice. You've got to see it IRL.
It is a good All-Rounder Digi-cam. Nuthing to woww about, but yet its simple and nice.

Wedding updates (Evening Gown)

This week has been really busy for me at work, as there is a major meeting held in our office, plus my usual deadline to meet for work. All the higher-up management flew in from the different countries offices. I have been going into the office earlier almost everyday. Thankfully, being busy makes the week passed by very quickly, which is good good. (",)

I finally met up with Kim yesterday since our last appointment in February. Took a half day leave yesterday. We discussed about the design, type of fabric and colour that I would like for my EG. I told her that I wanted to have fuchsia colour and something in mermaid style. Kim let me tried on a few pieces of EG with different fabrics and cuttings.

In the end, I settled for a halter-neck, bare back style, which we both agreed looks good on me. As for the type of fabric, she suggested to use satin and on top of it will be a layer of tulle to achieve the "mermaid shape" as satin fabric itself will be soft and flowy, clinging onto the skin, thus alone cannot achieve the shape that I want.

The colour that I've choosen for the inner satin fabric will be a lighter shade of pink, whereas the tulle will be in a bright fuchsia colour. Exactly what I want! I had a hard time deciding on the colour, as I wanted fuchsia (loud pink) but yet does not want to look too wayang. At the end of the day, I wanted something glamorous and elegant, not something too OTT.

Crossing my fingers real hard that it will turn out to be my dream EG. And I'm really happy to fixed my first fitting on the 29 May and our pre-wedding PS with Andrew Tay will be on the 16 July! Gotta note these dates down in my calendar. My appointed MUA is Kelly.
Yippee!!! Looking forward excitedly towards my first fitting and PS.

And oh ya, I need to source for my wedding heels. Before Kim tells me how many inches that my heel has to be, I told her that I'm comfortable with 3 1/2 inches, hehe... cheeky me. She then laughed and said ok lah, between 3 1/2 to 4 inches is perfectly alright. And she did reminded me not to get those with "claw-like" diamonates as these will hook onto the cancan of the gown.

Overall, having Kim as my designer and overall bridal stuff coordinator, makes me feel rest assured that I am in good hands.

After the appointment, with some time on my hand, I went down to Sim Lim Square to get my Digi-cam. Been waiting for so long since I missed the recent IT show held at Suntec. Not enough funds then, keke... I did my homework and luckily asked my sis if she had lobang. And she told me that her ex-boss recently bought the same exact model that I want (Canon IXUS 80IS) at a lower than retail price. Bought it at S$385 (incl gst) whereas retail is selling for S$429 (which I have no idea if it includes gst or not.) She recommended me to Alan Photoshop @ SLS Level 1, and to look for Anthony.

I know I know, most people thought if you purchase consumer electronic stuffs at SLS, you will surely kana chop carrots one. But my sis ex-boss said Alan Photo can be trust worthy, thus I gave it a benefit of a doubt. Anyway, I know what I want and did my homework. I'm sure its usually the ang mohs and tourists who kana chopped, hee... no offence though.

Yeah!! Finally got my digi-cam since the very last one I had got "drowned" during my Koh Samui trip, hahaha.... Now I have one to take pics of my fittings and all wedding related stuff. Am a happy gal now.

In the evening, tagged along with Baobei to SAFRA Club for a swim. Its been such a long time that I swim. I always find tranquility in the water, probably because I'm a Pisces. Anyway, nice amenities they have there. Bathrooms at Ladies were big and spacious. Locker room were clean and with pipe-in music, plus there is a hair-dryer, combs and even Johnson baby powder somemore, haha. But who will dare to use the combs there, lolzz..

We end the night with a sumptous dinner at Pepper Lunch at IMM. Have been lusting over its grilled beefburger steak for a long time. Delicious and fulfilling dinner. Yummy!

Arrghh!!!!

Super damn pissed off is how I would describe my feelings at this moment. Arrgghhh!!!!
I've been having a terrible tension headache (or is it migraine, ohh... what the heck!) since this morning, and it was excruciating painful during the later part of my work day. But this is not the main point.

While waiting for a train at raffles place station after knocking off from work, there is this elderly uncle also waiting, standing just right behind me.

When the train arrived and the door opened, as usual droves of people dashing out. I stood aside to allow them to alight first before entering the train. But you guess it right, that stupid uncle behind me decided to act kiasu and jabbed at my bag, pushing me in. I was thinking "Helo uncle, the train door is not going to close like within 5 seconds lor, stop being a kiasu singaporean."

Usually, in such situations, I would just let it go and ignore whoever. But today, I simply couldn't contained myself and therefore I blurted out at him in an irritated voice (Yes! I was damn fucky irritated) "Can you stop pushing...." And he immediately shouted back in a defensive tone "I'm not pushing!" (Quoting his exact words.), followed by staring at me as if I "killed" his whole family. And he never stopped staring at me all this while, even when I looked away and ignored him. I decided why should I be afraid and so I stared back at him too. There is no such thing as being fierce or loud = you will win. And I'm even prepared to reason with him if he wants to continue mumbling.. I'm not afraid!

He even had the audacity to mumbled that I'm trying to be funny with him. WTF!!! Sorry for my unpleasant usage of language here, but I've not been so pissed off ever since that dinner session with Simon's friend Jas the other time. Well, that is another super pissed off situaton too, which I'm not gonna talk about it here.

At this moment, I was super damn angry already, but I decided to ignore him and act as if he was invisible. Because I do not want to be wasting my energy quarelling with such an unreasonable person. Moroever, other people who doesn't know head or tail will be thinking that I'm bullying an elderly. Haiz... whatever... I guess by ignoring him, I wouldn't fall into his trap of him, trying to agitate me into a quarrel. After all, losing cool is more easy than keeping cool.

I understand that there are many such people existing, and probably my headache made me in a super grouchy mode. But well... what happens if a pregnant lady was in my place... is he going to act in the same manner as well? Does he think that being an elderly gives him the right to be unreasonable so that others can give in to him? Put aside his age, I think he doesn't even possess simple basic courtesy.

And you know what, when there was a seat available, he was in his "kiasu mode" again and rushed for the seat, thinking I would vie with him. (That empty seat was very close to where I'm standing.)
Such childish act really... And this was an educated (he spoke in english, ok!) elderly old man, and yet displayed such behaviour. What can I say! Haiz... count me unlucky.
There is a saying "Kindness Begets Kindness"... now I really seem to doubt it....
