Family Day Outing w. Baobei

Spent an evenful 1/2 day session with baobei on saturday. We woke up really early and meet at 08:30am for a Family Day Outing organised by Navy. Initially, I still kindof dread going, coz I was afraid it will be boring. But unexpectantly, it turned out to be very fun & interesting. Talk of the unexpected, lolzz. Kuodos to Uncle William Ho, who was the organiser in-charge cum our tour-guide. He was very humorous, fun and made our trip interesting with his enacting of PCK language and joking with the kids.
We visited 5 places located at Chua Chu Kang, and they were Hay Dairies, Hausmann Fish Farm, Lunch @ Bollywood (Poison Ivy Restaurant), Kok Far Veggie and Farmart Centre. Didn't realise that Singapore can have such a rural side of it. It was refreshing to be out in the nature, being an urbanite for most of my life. Had lotsa fun and learnt something new indeed, especially with regards to Hay Dairies. It is the only goat-farm in Singapore. And they mainly produce milk for sale. Infact, learnt that goat's milk have alot of benefits to human's body. Its alkaline and better than cow's milk which is acidic. It can even cure a baby's jaudice! But of course it taste slightly different from cow's milk, a slight tinge of smell. But the chocolate flavour one taste not too bad, with pure coco powder added. Most vital, it does not contain any preservative at all!

Took some pics to share with all. (^.^) Perhaps one of these days, you can go down and experience the fun of nature, farms and vegetation. Of course, look for uncle William Ho! Lolzz..

Wedding Prep - Divine Couture/ Coffee & Tea DreamWorkz

Yippie Hurray! Finally tomorrow is friday. Been so shagged and tiredz for the past whole week. Been extremely busy sourcing for Bridal studio, Actual Day (AD) Photographer (PG) & Videographer (VG).

To update from my last post about our visit to Divine Couture. One word. GORGEOUS! It has not failed my high expectation of it. The wedding gown (WG) I mean, hee... Met up with Kim, the designer and she was very friendly and pleasant. She was also very professional, in terms of understanding what kind of WG I'm looking for and explaining to me the effect of different kinds of fabric. She hand picked a few WG with different material and cutting for me to try on. Every piece was so beautiful, and seems to fit me so well, without any piece being too tight or too loose.... which was such a coincidence, and makes me wonder is this "The One"?? I really love the first piece that I've tried on. A princessy ballgown, with unique back detailings and organza material. Even baobei's eyes lited up when he saw me in the WG. It really has the "WOW" effect, which I regarded as the utmost importance for a WG. And that is one step closer to getting my dream gown.

The second piece was also pretty, with a low-back cutting, and seams of the low back embossed with swarovski crystals and tulle skirting. I find that their WG really has some special detailings without being over-the-top. And all their OTR WG are so nice and does not look "old" as in being wore for upteem times. Seriously, I do not mind to take the OTR selection, as I fear that MTM design may not turn out to my expectation. Baobei was asking me if we are allow to take some pics with the WG. But I paisay to do so, as there was another couple there for fitting, and we would appear to be suan ku for doing so. And also I would like to keep the suspense of how my WG will look like.... you will know when you come to my wedding that day, ok? Lolzzz. (",)

But the downside is of course their pkg price is not cheap, plus they only tied-up with PG studios, and therefore it seems like "Ala-carte", as in Bridal and PG are separate. Which also means nuthing much we can negotiate and bargain for. Plus, the pkg does not come with rental of tea-dress and fathers' jackets/ suits, which is kindof headache and will become additonal cost we will have to fork out for... hmm....

But upon discussing with Baobei, he agreed with me that their WG really impressed him. Plus, I get to MTM my Evening Gown (EG) and take home. Not like other BS, whereby they will usually only offer MTM (Rental). He also felt that Kim was very professional indeed, knowing what kind of WG suits me. After all, we should be "wearing" the dress instead of the dress "wearing" us, right? Moreover, he can then rest assured that his MTM suits will be in good hands, since baobei is also very particular over his suit. He had compromised when it comes to the pre-wedding photos. But that is a different set of headache, as we would then have to decide which PG to take up if we get Divine's pkg... haiz... decision decision decision... guess I shall leave it up to baobei to decide since he is sourcing for AD PG & VG. But something he said made me really touched. He said that I should chose the WG I really like, as he wants me to be happy with no regrets for the wedding. So sweet of him... "Thank you dearie!" :*

As for the AD PG & VG, we've decided to engage Coffee & Tea Dreamworkz, located at 44C Tras Street. Before that, we went down to Stefian, but find their animation works only so so. Plus the guy who is supposedly the VG was unsure of alot of things when we asked him. Which make us confused and doubtful. Even though Coffee & Tea's combo pkg was abit steep, but we think it will be $ well spend, as we do not want to sacrifice quality for that few hundred bucks of savings. Imagine these will be the only documentation of your special day in your whole life. It's priceless memories. We also especially like their coffee table album, which is a compact, light-weight magazine style album, with the couple's photo designed as the cover. And their animation was cutezz too, and we can even do our own narration if we want to, haha... and most importantly, they are able to churn out the express edit, like within 5 hours, so that we can share the morning tea ceremony with our guests just before the dinner starts. Thinking of it makes me feel excited about our Big Day... can't wait for it to come..

And we've also signed the contract with Intercon Htl. We've even managed to squeeze in some time to visit My Bridal Room, another BS located at Tan Que Lan Street. (The stretch beside previous shopping mall, The ICON.) I was only curious to find out more after reading all the good post in SgBride forum. But alas, I only find them to be of average and none of the WG appeals to me. But probably because after I've seen Divine's WG that my expectation only gets higher. The sale staff, Uncle Quek was friendly, but one thing both baobei and I does not like, he was too long-winded, bit of boastful and he made negative remarks about other BS, which I find, is very unprofessional. No point having excellent service, but being unprofessional. It just goes to show how they will deal with their customers. But to be fair, their pkg was still quite ok, although not as attractive as DiGio's offer. I didn't even bother to negotiate as we just planned to see see look look only, hee...

This week passes by so fast, especially being so hectic, rushing off after work to visit BS, PG & VG with baobei. But I was quite amazed that I can be so decisive when usually I'm very indecisive when buying shoes or clothings... keke. And this coming sunday is Kelvin and Madeline's wedding. I've to accompany baobei in the morning for the car convoy. Ok, better to have more rest tomorrow and on saturday too. My eyes can hardly stay open... Hope to catch some rest during the upcoming CNY break.

Bridal Studio - DiGio

Jessica from Divine Couture called me last minute on Monday to postpone our appt, as Kim (Designer) whom we were supposed to meet up with was on M.C. Therefore our appointment was rescheduled to this coming friday instead. We replaced the appointment with a visit to DiGio, as Kevin was going there too. The bridal boutique was located at 69 Tanjong Pagar Rd, and Baobei remembered the address wrongly as 65 Tanjong Pagar Rd. So we ended up, walking a long way from where he parked his car to the boutique.

Met up with Josephine and Jesline (Designer), upon recommedation from Kevin. Both were quite friendly and chatty. Am I glad that they are not pushy at all and makes us feel at ease! As usual Jesline picked a few WG for me to try it on. I feel so unsafe about their changing place, where its only separated by a drawing curtain. Anyway, that evening was jam-packed with other couples, some trying on WG, whereas others were just browsing.

They've quite a nice selection of gowns, and I personally like the one with ruched, pleated bodice and another one which looks very princessy-like with tulle ballgown skirt. Baobei commented that he liked it. But I thought I wanted something simple & elegant without much complicated details. All this while, Jesline was nodding her head, smiling and seems to know what I have in mind....

The package they quoted us was indeed very attractive. And I can get both MTM WG & EG, plus Baobei can get his suits MTM. Seriously considering to take up with them. But as I've been dying to look at Divine's WG, that I told Baobei to accompany me to go down to at least 2 more BS, before we conclude and finalise. Both of us also struck off the idea of going down to Volans Couture, as I read on the forum that the boss (Eric) is the newphew of Focus Bridal, the BS that suddenly closed down at IMM during X'mas last year, scared scared of Taiwanese BS. Kindof skeptical. We would rather pay abit more for an established BS.

Yippie!! Today Baobei told me that maybe my dream will come true... he is getting a Tiffany engagement ring for me.. Wowww.... all girls' dream to see the little blue box tied with ribbon.
But I'm afraid he may spend too much $$, also do not want to get my hopes up too high... just wish that our wedding will be something really special to us. Something both of us can look back on when we were old and still smile about. It also signifies a new chapter of a new beginning in our life. Looking forward to it. (",)

Rainbow After Storm.

Went wakeboarding with Eileen, Derek and Cindy on sun late afternoon. To our unexpectation, it started to rain cats & dogs just when we boarded the boat. No choice, we ran for shelter at the coffeeplace at Marina Country Club. The funny thing was, our hot drinks were untouched and still steaming hot.... we were wondering why, thats when we found out that Cindy forgot to pay for her drink, and the auntie was waiting for her to come back, wahaha... we waited awhilez more, eating satays and talking cock before going out to sea. And the worst came, it was storming... with lighting and thunder not again. And I was worried that I can't get a chance to wb, but I managed to go for one ride, happy... hee.. But the weather was damn erratic and all of us were freezing with the rain and wind blowing at us. When the rain got smaller, we made our way back to the dock, and Eileen exclaimed that there was a rainbow! Both of us quickly snapped it with our Hp cam. Beautiful! To share with you here. Sorry for the lousy cam quality. But it was so so much beautiful to see it in real life!!! How true the saying goes "After the storm, its the rainbow".

In the evening, had a family dinner with Baobei's father, mother, Sharon & Marson at a seafood restuarant at Deful Lane. It was a satisfying meal indeed. Sharon commented that I've lost weight. Come to think of it, Cindy also commented the same thing too. Hmm... if its for others, it would be a compliment. But for me, whom is already very skinny, guess I gotta put on some weight inorder to look more radiant for my big day... Seriously, I wasn't on any diet deliberately.... perhaps I was busy with work and also preparing for our wedding stuff etc.

Nearly forgot the pic I wanna share. Really long time never seen a rainbow, makes me think of CareBears cartoons which aired on Sunday mornings when I was a kid... haha. ;)
"5, 4, 3, 2, 1.... Carebears Magic!!!" lolzz...

Wedding Prep - Bridal Studio

We've shortlisted a few bridal studios that we are keen in. Out of the five, 4 were choosen by me, heehee... Baobei were keen in Di Gio whom Kelvin & Madeline has taken up with and their wedding is this coming sun, 27 Jan 2008. Whereas Volans Couture was taken up by Serene & Billy, and their wedding was held on 02 Jan 2008.

1. Ritz Couture
2. Divine Couture
3. Di Gio
4. My Bridal Room
5. Volans Couture

Woww.... seems like lotsa of friends around me are getting married this year. I met up with Joleen for dinner last tuesday, and she will be holding hers on 22 Nov 2008 at M Hotel. Too bad that I can't attend her wedding, which I'm sure would be lotsa fun.

Went to Ritz Couture with Baobei last wednesday after work. The bridal studio was situated at No. 141 Devonshire Road, which is adjacent to Cineleisure. The last house of the row of shophouses along the mainroad. We parked at SP Bldg, which is the nearest carpark and crossed over the road. As we were early, we waited awhilez as Elaine was busy attending to another customer. In the meantime, we browsed through their wedding portoflio and find the photography not too bad. We saw one album which has alot of overlays and was wondering how much the couple topped up for the additional pictures, haha.

And in the meantime, Baobei sneaked a few pics with his hp, Jz D 2 of Us .... ;p

K, back to the bridal stuff. The place was quite a small cosy shophouse, decorated simply with white drapping curtains, fur carpet and a nice chandelier. Yes yes, I've a fetish for chandelier crystal lamps. So grand and luxury feeling. Elaine was friendly and she allowed me to choose a few WG to try them on. I tried on a total of 4 pieces. Didn't know that WG can be so heavy... lolzz. I thought I was skinny enough, but there was one particular piece whereby I've a hard time zipping it up at the waist area, haha... But it was really nice lor. As I look into the mirror, I'm starting to imagine my actual wedding day with my dream WG on... They have many nice WG OTR for selection indeed, and Elaine said that there will be new pieces coming in soon. And oh, I would suggest BTB to wear nude, strapless brasserie, as that will be more convienant for trying on.

Initially, I wanted something in a halter-neck style, but after trying decided against it, as it doesn't really suit me... makes me look flatter, if you know what I'm talking about, haha. I also don't really like the bustier (tube-kind) of neckline as I've seen so many brides wearing similiar cutting, kind of boring, hmm... In the end, I think I want to look for a sweet-heart neckline, something simple and elegant, with tulle/ organza instead of satin, which feels a whole lot heavier... I thought a bride is suppose to feel happy & light, walking on thin air, lolzz. Can't imagine wearing a very heavy material gown and dragging your feet, hee... But I guess I can't avoid the train behind the gown, which contributes to the elegant overall feel of WG.

I've browsed through the web, and saw some designs which appeals to me.

I love crystal adored tulle!

I like the ruched, embriodered bodice, even though its bustier neckline. Looks simple & modern.

This model looks lovely, like her hair style.

Back to the bridal pkg. The pricing is mid-high end range, and frankly speaking, not that comprehensive, with the number of photos given very little we find. Which means at the end of the day, we gotta top up alot of $$ for additional pics. Moreover, the outdoor prewedding shoot is only limit to 3 locations. Hmm... But Elaine did mentioned that she can throw in a few more pics and we can further negotiate if we are really keen in taking up with them.

After discussion with baobei, we decided to visit a few more shops before we finalise. Thus, next friday we are going to Divine Couture, which I've heard alot of rave reviews about their gowns. Hope both the WG and bridal pkg won't disappoint us.

And at the same time, baobei is busy searching for AD PG+VG by sourcing and comparing the individual packages. I shall leave the final choice to him. :)
